ABOUT US
Founder & Mission
Welcome to First Tracks Frontier, your trusted partner in crafting extraordinary Alaskan adventures! My name is Chelsea First, and as an Alaska Certified Expert (ACE), I specialize in creating tailored travel experiences that showcase the incredible beauty and spirit of the Last Frontier.
I have had a connection to winter, snow, and the outdoors since I was a child. I can remember my dad and I building snowmen and him pulling me on a sled while I laughed and giggled as I flopped into the snow face first. I’d say, Do it again! And all the many beautiful hiking adventures we embarked on together. My dad passed away in 2001. These memories in the outdoors with my dad are kept close to my heart every day. I still remember his deep love of wildlife, nature and history. He was the kind of man who would pull over the van to the side of the road and pick out some rocks, excitedly, like, “Look here! This may have been an ancient grinding tool!” And his excitement and passion for the natural world and the people who walked before us, remains such an important part of who I am today. Alaska, with its awe-inspiring wilderness, offers a profound connection to history, culture, wildlife, nature, that connects me to who I am, and it feels like home—somewhere perhaps overlooking the mountains, sea, forests. I dream of someday making this region my permanent home. I think my dad would approve.
As a single mother, supporting my adopted son in his pursuit of his Yale aspirations has reinforced my belief in perseverance, focus, and the importance of nurturing meaningful goals—values I bring to my work at First Tracks Frontier. At home, my life is enriched by the companionship of my adventurous rescue dog, Kodi and my affectionate orange cream tabby cat, Jerome, with my three beautiful hens, Lulamae, Mink & Scarlotta. My sweet pets always remind me to savor life’s simple joys, quiet moments, each day.
When I’m not helping clients plan their dream adventure in Alaska, I find solace and inspiration in the outdoors. Whether hiking along the lakeshore with my dog, taking drives through the countryside in my classic ’81 chevy C10, taking a dip in the lake, or exploring small historic towns. Nature has always been my guide and muse. Restoring my beloved farmhouse by the lake and tending to my humble vegetable garden and miniature apple orchard, also keep me deeply connected to the natural world.
As an advocate for sustainable and ethical tourism, I am committed to ensuring that the experiences I curate not only celebrate Alaska’s stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife but also respect and preserve its fragile ecosystems. I strive to honor the history and culture of Alaska’s indigenous peoples, incorporating opportunities to learn from and support their traditions and communities into the journeys I create.
A lover of literature and a writer at heart, I often channel the emotions and inspiration drawn from Alaska’s beauty into poetry. My professional approach is rooted in respect for the land and a desire to share its wonders in a meaningful way. Whether it’s a thrilling snowmobiling excursion, a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife tour, or an opportunity to witness the ethereal glow of the Northern Lights, I aim to craft experiences that leave a lasting impression.
Alaska isn’t just a destination; it’s an experience that transforms and inspires. I would be honored to guide you on your journey to uncover its magic. Let’s work together to turn your Alaskan dream into an unforgettable reality.
